The Grand Taj Mahal Walking Tour

On 7th July 2007, Taj Mahal, the Crown of Palaces, was declared winner of the New 7 Wonders of the World.Of the new 7 wonders, the Taj Mahal stands out as the only Mausoleum. It can be called as “An Epitome of Love”. Sir Edwin Arnold, the English Poet said; "Taj is Not a piece of architecture, as other buildings are, but the proud passion of an emperor’s love wrought in living stones". His words capture the exact essence of what Taj Mahal is.

Imagine constructing a white marble structure of this scale in 1638, almost 380 years ago, when there were no construction machinery. All had to be done by hand utilizing thousands of animal pulled carts and loading on boats to move materials from all over the Empire and beyond.Consider 20,000 workers sweating 22 years to complete it using 1000 elephants to transport materials. Isn’t it amazing?
